PYP 1 Sigma and Omega`s Unit of Inquiry Highlights

PYP 1 Sigma and Omega`s Unit of Inquiry Highlights

PYP 1 Sigma started our investigation with plants.

We had a picnic during snack and some "things" started falling from the sky!
Some children started to scream, thinking they were worms, but we found out
they were not moving, so they couldn't be alive!
So we took them to class to analise them. We thought they were cocoons, we thought they were baby snakes... At the moment, we think they are dead caterpillars.

We also found some other "things" on the floor. Right now, we think they might be beehives.

Then, we got some actual caterpillars! We made them a house, fed them leaves and lettuce and watched them turn into cocoons! This week a butterfly popped out of the cocoon, and we were thrilled to show it and set it free.

We also have some "guests" in the class. Seven guests. At first, we thought they were fish, but we looked for information in a book and found they are actual tadpoles! And that they are going to turn into frogs! At the moment, the tadpoles have grown legs. It is very exciting to watch them grow.

Our caterpillars and butterfly had patterns, orange and black and yellow and black. We explored patterns, creating them with our bodies and while talking about day and night.
