As a part of our Unit of Inquiry, children had their first school outing to the “Butantan Institute" in order to observe different animals and patterns in nature.

As part of PYP1’s new Unit of Inquiry, pupils will be looking at different tools and their uses.

In order to launch the new investigation, we want to prepare a “tinkering area” in each classroom so children can start having hands-on experiences

WE COUNT ON PARENTS’ SUPPORT:

It would be great if you could either donate or lend used objects / tools. Please bear in mind the items you are lending temporarily will be used by children throughout the investigations, so they could eventually be damaged. We ask that you only send items that can run the risk!

ITEMS TO DONATE: A perfect opportunity for some up-close learning for your child. They will be able to take these objects apart and create new things.	ITEMS TO LEND: Your child will have the opportunity to explore and learn about different tools and inventions.
Old alarm clocks Old telephones Old calculators Old electronic toys Old radios Anything from the list of items to lend.	Tools related to jobs (stethoscope, ear scope,  gardening tools, cooking tools etc) Musical instruments Working photographic cameras Phonograph (LP player) Old typewriter Dial phones

If each parent can find one item to donate/lend, PYP 1’s learning environment will be richer and this will certainly be a memorable Unit.

Butantan 17/10/2016

Butantan Institute

As we head towards the end of our first Unit of Inquiry, pupils will have the opportunity to look for patterns in nature in a real setting. They will be able to observe insects, snakes and other creatures in a nature-like exhibit at Butantan Institute. 
We are very excited to take pupils to their first field trip. Please make sure to arrive at the time stated in your child's field trip letter and dressed in complete uniform..

25/10/16 - PYP 1 Omega (Ms Sant'Anna) and PYP 1 Sigma (Mrs Kurbhi)
Pupils should arrive at regular time (7:45 /8:00a.m). 

26/10/16 - Pyp 1 Beta (Ms Taira) and PYP 1 Delta (Mrs Eretzky)
