Check out some of PYP 1's favourites

Dear parents,

The PYP 1 team has come up with a list of suggestions of links with videos, activities, songs and nursery rhymes that we think you might enjoy at home.

Some of the songs we sing routinely in class and others are favourites with the children.

We hope you enjoy the links and activities!

PYP 1s have begun visiting the school Library!

Visiting the library!

All the PYP 1 classes are now visiting the Library on a weekly basis! When going there, they have the opportunity to listen to a story, browse through different books, borrow a book of their own choice and take it home to keep it for a whole week

Have they been enjoying sharing the books with you at home? This is a wonderful chance for parents to read to their children and discover their favourite titles, stories and authors! Let us know!

Parents are also welcome to visit the Library and borrow up to 5 books for their children and/or for themselves.

Library hours are from Mondays to Fridays and our library staff will be always willing to help you out:

Mrs. Rosita Vasconcellos (Library Teacher),  Mr. Graeme Boyd  (Library Head) and Mrs. Ana Galvão (Librarian).
Monday 7:45 – 17:00
Tuesday 7:45 – 18:00
Wednesday 7:45 – 17:00

Yummy lunch! 03/10/16

It is lunch time!

PYP 1 pupils are working on their self-help skills, eating all by themselves in the cafeteria.
They are learning to hold the knife to push food
 onto their fork.
It is also a time when they have the chance to use polite
words and phrases such as 'please' and 'thank you.'
We ask parents to keep encouraging children to eat independently at home, by using knife and fork during meal times.

First Unit of Inquiry

There are different patterns and cycles in nature and in our daily lives.

Our first Unit of Inquiry is about patterns and cycles in our daily lives. Children are going to explore natural patterns and daily life patterns, changes in nature and life cycles. Therefore, we would like to invite pupils to bring caterpillars, tadpoles or seeds that they can observe throughout their learning experience. If you happen to come across either one of the above mentioned, please do send them with your child to school. It will enrich their learning.

We will also be looking into our routines in the school and at home. Because of that, we would kindly ask you to send pictures of the children’s routine at home, such as brushing teeth, having breakfast, getting ready for school, dinner time, bath time and bedtime rituals.

Thank you very much for your support,
PYP 1 teachers
